Our caregivers/companions are well groomed, non-smoking, dependable, kind, gentle, compassionate and happy people who possess positive helping attitudes that encourage independence and participation in life. Each of our Companions is screened for drugs and checked extensively - nationally as well as locally - for criminal history. Drug Screening: Performed prior to employment and randomly thereafter Screened for prescription drugs as well as illegal substances Licensed agencies are not required by law to test for drugs. Some perform random drug testing occasionally or if they suspect a problem; even then, most only test for illegal drugs not prescription drugs. Kind Companions spends the time and money to test for prescription drugs also and repeats testing randomly for additional peace of mind. Criminal History: Licensed agencies in Texas are only required to check the Texas state register. We use a system which checks nationwide as well as locally upon hire, and repeat checks locally every six months thereafter. Non-licensed are not required to check criminal histories at all. Additional Qualifications: CPR certified Bonded Tested for communicable diseases annually (TB test) Companions complete extensive written multiple situation analyses. They also undergo clinical skills evaluations. These are done before the person is ever considered for employment, to ensure that he or she possesses the character and skills that we require. Companions receive on-going training and information regarding the latest and greatest on serving our clients needs.
